A los 7 minutos consiguió el primer gol por intermedio del jugador Jeison Ordóñez, aprovechó la distracción que generó Michael Estrada en los defensas para sacar un potente disparo de zurda esquinado imposible de atajar para el golero portovejense, marcando el 1-0.
Liga de Portoviejo no se encontró en el partido y dejó que Macará siga inquietando su arco con jugadas de Estrada y Ledesma, pero el marcador no se amplió.
A los 21 minutos Francisco Usúcar tuvo la segunda luego de sacar un potente disparo que se estrelló en el horizontal. Poco a poco los visitantes fueron agarrando ritmo de juego con jugadas de Luis Caicedo y Hugo Vélez sobre el arco de Hinostroza.
A los 37 minutos Macará se quedó con 10 jugadores tras la expulsión de Francisco Usúcar quien cometió una falta sobre el jugador juvenil Sixto Vicuña viendo la roja directa. Al final del primer tiempo el marcador no varió yéndose Macará al descanso con un gol arriba.
Para la parte de complemento, Liga salió a proponer el partido generando jugadas con Javier Guarino que encontraron bien ubicada a la zaga celeste.
El ‘Gordo’ Lucho comenzó a distribuir balones para Hugo Vélez que no estuvo con mucha fortuna.
Macará buscó el gol de la tranquilidad con Ángel Ledesma y John Jairo Cifuentes, lamentablemente no lo consiguió y comenzó a desesperarse.
La ‘Capira’ aprovechó la desazón celeste y comenzó a ser más insistente en busca de la paridad. El técnico Marcelo Straccia trató de cerrar el partido con los cambios que no le diueron resultado.
Cuando todo parecía que el triunfo celeste se daba llegó el minuto 90+3 en una jugada sin mayor peligro el jugador Javier Guarino sacó un remate de media tijera que el golero Walter Hinostroza dejó escapar el balón al fondo del arco poniendo el agónico empate 1-1 complicando la situación de Macará en la tabla de posiciones.
