La ceniza arrojada por el volcán Cotopaxi cayó levemente en las localidades de José Guango, Tanicuchí, Lasso, Pastocalle, Mulaló y el Chasqui del cantón Latacunga, Provincia Cotopaxi, informó el Ministerio Coordinador de Seguridad.
El Ministerio Coordinador de Seguridad, -el único que puede difundir información sobre la situación del volcán, según el Decreto 755 firmado el sábado por el presidente Rafael Correa-, sobrevoló el martes al coloso y reportó que presentaba «emisiones poco enérgicas de vapor de agua y ceniza que se desplazan por el flanco occidental sin alcanzar mayor altura», por lo que se mantiene la alerta amarilla declarada el pasado viernes.
Según la información del Ministerio Coordinador de Seguridad, la Secretaría de Gestión de Riesgos (SGR) continúa con la capacitación a los pobladores en las áreas de posible afectación en el cantón Latacunga sobre: medidas de autoprotección, rutas de evacuación, puntos de encuentro, albergues y manejo de animales.
Se declaró alerta amarilla en zonas cercanas al volcán Cotopaxi
El día miércoles, 19 de agosto, las autoridades del Ministerio Coordinador de Seguridad, junto a la Secretaría de Gestión de Riesgos participarán en el COE cantonal de Mejía para dar seguimiento a los planes de contingencia y a la ejecución de acciones.
